As part of the “Turkey is reading” campaign, a coffee shop in Kahramanmaraş is serving tea and coffee free of charge to those who read books in the café. People come together at the two-year-old coffee shop and have conversations about culture, art and literature on pre-determined days. There are also set reading hours for students, to keep alive the “coffee shop” concept. On “reading aloud days,” people who read aloud are given books to keep.

Good idea, should be made widespread. In Europe in the recent century the coffe shops used to be the centres of cultural and intellectual life. Artists, painters, writers, poets and political figure used to spend a lot of time there, some called them thier "second living room". They did not get coffee for free though, but I know for sure that they got credit for consumption and sometimes were allowed to pay back by their works.
