Calligraphy exhibition opens in Dolmabahçe

United Arab Emirates Culture Days has brought 70 calligraphy works to Dolmabahçe art gallery in an exhibit titled “El-Burde.”

The works have been selected as part of a calligraphy competition judged by calligraphy historian and expert Professor Uğur Derman and calligraphy artists Mehmed Özçay and Müzehhib Necati Sancaktutan.
The United Arab Emirates Development Ministry, which organized the exhibition, aims to promote Islamic art and Islamic art events.

Development Minister Abdulrahman Mohammed al-Owais told Anatolia news agency the works in the exhibition include works by many Turkish artists. Istanbul is the capital of calligraphy art, he added.
Iran and Turkey produce some of the best calligraphy artists, said al-Owais.

The exhibition continues until Oct. 14.
