Bulgaria imposes tax on all plastic bags

Bulgaria is to impose an ecotax on the production of all kinds of plastic bags from October 1 in a new effort to limit their use, the government said today.The government had imposed a tax on the production of standard strength bags last October but shops quickly substituted them with thicker ones to avoid paying.
The current tax of 0.35 leva (0.18 euros, $0.22) will also rise every year, the government said in a statement issued after a regular cabinet meeting.
