Bosphorus bridges’ renewal in 540 days

ISTANBUL - Hürriyet
A tender to renew the two bridges in Istanbul that link Europe and Asia has been opened, setting 540 days as the duration for the maintenance and repairs.

The Bosphorus and Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridges in Istanbul, which serve as a road link between the European and Asian continents, are to undergo a routine maintenance and repair process that will be given to a firm through a tender offer.

The statement released by the Ministry of Transport, which opened the tender, stated that the maintenance of the bridges was spread to 540 days so that the work could be done when the traffic was less dense and be finished without hampering traffic. The statement added that the schedule of the maintenance was not made certain.

Repairs of the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge were finished in 2013 and the maintenance process concerning the specific bridge will be small-scale and will not block traffic, adding that the renewal of the Bosphorus Bridge would be held when schools were closed and the traffic density would be low.
