The catalog of the auction has been printed with three different cover pages.

The 20th Beyaz Contemporary and Modern Art Auction will take place at Istanbul’s Sofa Hotel on May 29. The auction will put on sale a total of 190 art works, including the works of 105 of the most prominent foreign and Turkish contemporary artists. The works will be displayed at the Sofa Hotel between May 24 and 28.

Erol Akyavaş’s masterpiece “Vav,” which is dated 1984 and one of the paintings from his record-breaking series reflecting Islamic philosophical thought, is one of the works to be sold in the auction. It is expected to fetch between 300,000 and 400,000 Turkish liras.

The catalog of the auction has been printed with three different cover pages, displaying the masterworks of Neşe Erdok, Taner Ceylan and Nedim Günsür.

The first cover features Erdok’s “Adahan Hotel,” one of her masterpieces. It will be sold for between 200,000 and 300,000 liras.

Another cover is decorated with a painting by Ceylan, one of whose works broke the sales record when it sold for $310,000 last year in an auction of Sotheby’s London. Ceylan’s “Nirvana,” known as one of his masterpieces, will be sold for between 250,000 and 300,000 liras.

The third cover painting is Günsür’s 1985 painting “Rıhtım Street.” It presents cross-sections from the coasts, old streets and market places of Karadeniz Ereğkisi and Büyükdere. The estimated price the painting will fetch is between 300,000 and 400,000 liras.

As usual, the auction will also put works by foreign masters on sale. Sarah Morris, Thomas Schebitz, Peter Halley, Julian Opie, Antonio Segui, Peter Zimmerman, Jiri Georg Dokoupi and Jan Voss are among the names whose works will try to find a buyer in the auction.

Canan Tolon, who has broken records in the auctions of Beyaz Müzayede in recent years, will this time be included in the auction with her work “One Day This Will All Be Yours My Son.” The estimated price for this painting is between 100,000 and 140,000 liras. The painting is also included in Tolon’s book. Another work, Yaşam Şaşmazer’s “Shooter,” will also be put up for sale in the auction with a price between 55,000 and 75,000 liras.

The auction catalogue’s back cover features Komet’s work “Accidents,” which is from the artist’s first period in Paris in 1975. It will be put up for sale with an estimated price of between 50,000 and 70,000 liras.

Another work in the auction will be from a significant figure of contemporary figurative art, Mehmet Güleryüz’s famous 1987 work “Eşcinsel ve Denizci” (Gay and Sailor). The painting is included in many of Güleryüz’s books and appraised by local and foreign experts, and will be sold at a price between 180,000 and 240,000 liras.
