Representatives of the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) will be visiting the jailed leader of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) on July 21, according to Firat news agency, which is known to have close links to the PKK.

BDP co-chairman Selahattin Demirtaş and deputy parliamentary group chair Pervin Buldan will meet with the imprisoned leader at İmralı island for first time since their last visit on June 24, which had been delayed due to the timing of the response from the Ministry of Justice.

The July 21 visit will be the seventh İmralı-BDP meeting.

The meetings have been continuing in line with the peace process, however, the PKK’s alleged urban wing Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) complained of their scarcity in a statement released July 19.

The statement said BDP representatives were unable to visit Öcalan once every two weeks, and also added that the latest letter from the organization had failed to reach the jailed PKK leader.
