A successful artist of the leading dubstep record label Hyperdub, Ikonika is getting prepared to take stage at Babylon for the Newcomers Week. Ikonika, Sara Abdel-Hamid by her real name, is one of the female faces in the male-dominated dubstep world. After having her name first heard with the Hyperdub-labeled LP “Please/Simulacrum,” Ikonika released pieces through Planet Mu and Warp Records one after another. Ikonika strikes with her provocative dubstep style, founded on melodic synths, exciting drums and dark sub basses. Her first studio album “Contact, Love, Want, Have” was released in 2010. She has been referred to as “the woman who took dubstep to the next level” by the Guardian, as well as being compared to Aphex Twin with her production style. Ikonika promises another dynamic night with her DJ set at Babylon. The concert starts at 9 p.m and tickets are available on biletix.com.
