A group of parents who have children with autism will apply to the public ombudsman over the violation of their children’s right to education, according to their lawyer.

Lawyer Sedef Erken, who represents a group of parents with autistic children, told Anadolu Agency that she would apply to the ombudsman over the violation of autistic children’s right to education in Turkey.

A group of parents have come together in a Facebook group titled “Support team for mothers with autistic children” and agreed that they should take action for their children’s rights to education.

Erken said the families' petitions regarding the right to education would be sent to the ombudsman in the hope that they would then be sent to the related commissions in Parliament.

She stressed that Turkey has failed to provide the educational rights of children with autism, among other rights.
