Auditors seek former head of investment agency

Turkey’s Court of Accounts, the top exchequer and audit body, is seeking a former head of the Prime Ministry Investment Support and Promotion Agency upon accusations of him acting against legislation during his term, Sözcü newspaper reported yesterday.

Based on a notice published by the Official Gazette on Dec. 30, 2011, the daily claimed the courts wanted to speak with Alparslan Korkmaz, who headed the agency between 2007 and 2010, but were unable to locate him at the given address.

The board has “determined actions against the legislations and inadequate operations” were undertaken during Korkmaz’s chair, the notice said.

Korkmaz was originally called from Switzerland for the position by the ruling government upon his success at the Swiss investment agency, the paper also said.
