At least 12 people were killed and more than 30 others injured on Saturday in an Iranian attack on a camp of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan in northern Iraq, according to a local Iraqi official.

Iranian drones struck a meeting of leading members of the Iranian opposition party in the town of Koy Sanjaq in northern Iraq, according to a security source, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Shirwan Jala, the deputy manager of Koy Sanjaq vıllage, said 12 people from the Iranian party were killed and more than 30 injured.

“Some of the injured are in serious condition,” he said.

Party Secretary-General Mustafa Mawludi was reportedly among those injured in the attack.

The injured were transferred to hospitals in Erbil for treatment.

Meanwhile, Iranian state broadcaster aired a video showing the attack on the party’s building, saying it was carried out by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Established in 1996, the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan has been operational in Erbil.
