Aselsan set to make Kazakh copter parts

Aselsan, the Turkish defense industry company, has inked a deal to provide avionic devices for the Eurocopter Kazakhstan Engineering-made EC-145 helicopters in Kazakhstan.

The deal for the EC-145 equipment and devices was signed during the recent KADEX 2012 defense fair. 
The contract was signed by Kazakhstan Deputy Defense Minister Talgat Zhanzhunevov, Turkey’s Defense Industries Undersecretary Murad Bayar, Aselsan General Manager Cengiz Ergeneman, Eurocopter Vice President Lutz Bertling and Kazakhstan Engineering Chairman Bolat Smagulov. Kazakhstan Aselsan Engineering, the Aselsan branch in the country, has made a strong entrance into the Kazakh market, company executives told Anatolia news agency.

Kazakhstan Aselsan Engineering was founded on April 18, 2011 to provide electro-optical and electronic devices and systems for the military and civil companies in the region. Kazakhstan holds a 50 percent stake in the company while Aselsan owns 49 percent and Turkey’s Undersecretariat of Defense Industries (SSM) owns 1 percent.
