Akgül brings Turkey its first gold at the European Wrestling Championships

Akgül (in red) won the game in three periods. AA photoTurkey won its first gold medal in the European Wrestling Championship currently taking place in the Georgian capital, Tbilissi, tonight with Taha Akgül in the men's freestyle under-120-kilogram category.
The defending champion defeated his Ukrainian rival Alen Zaseev in the final in three periods. Akgül wiped out his rival in the first period, winning 6-0 points.
After losing the second period 2-1, Akgül came through in the last period with the same score, bringing declining Turkish wrestling a much-needed success. Akgül also won the gold medal in last year’s European Championship in Serbia.
