A world premier from Borusan Quartet
The Borusan Quartet will perform newly commissioned pieces in a world premier today at the Süreyya Opera House. Commissioned by Mahir Çetiz, Özkan Manav and Hasan Uçarsu, it is titled “Three composers, three premiers.” The three composers in question are Esen Kıvrak, Olgu Kızılay, Efdal Altun and Çağ Erçağ and the songs will be performed in a special concert marking their introduction to the world’s music scene.
In addition to winning awards at composition competitions, Çetiz has previously had one of his compositions performed by world-renowned Turkish pianist Fazıl Say. Manav has represented Turkey in the world music scene for many years through multiple different compositions, many of which fuse contemporary and traditional musical styles together.
