The festival has so far hosted figures from around the world.

Istancool, the international festival of art, culture and ideas aiming to enhance the reputation of Istanbul and pay tribute to Turkey’s cultural heritage, will take place this year from June 6 to 9. The festival will bring together world renowned writers, designers, artists, poets, directors and musicians in the city.

The event, which showcases art in many forms including design, fashion, literature, film, and music, will be held for the fourth time this year, in collaboration with the founder of the British magazine AnOther, Jefferson Hack.

According to a statement by Istanbul’74, the culture and arts platform behind the festival, the event will be open to everyone for free.

Bringing together the global pioneers in their fields and their Turkish counterparts, the festival provides a space for cultural education and exchange. It also aims to enhance the image of Istanbul by supporting the city’s profile as a centre for global culture.

In previous years, the festival hosted such names as Andrew Dominik, Ferzan Özpetek, Mario Sorrenti, Mark Romanek, Carine Roitfeld, Terry Gilliam, Courtney Love, Serra Yılmaz, Michael Stipe, Kirsten Dunst, Sophie Calle, Tilda Swinton, Gore Vidal, Hanif Kureishi, Michael Nyman, Leyla Umar, Zaha Hadid, Franca Sozzani, Taner Ceylan and Elif Şafak.

The festival program will be announced at a later date.
