Thirty people were hospitalized after a fire erupted in the basement of a building in Ankara late on Jan. 2, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported. 

The incident occurred at 4:00 a.m. in Ankara’s Çankaya district as the fire raged across the building from the basement, which was used as an office. 

Police teams and fire crews arrived at the scene after locals living nearby reported the incident. 

Some of the residents fled the scene with their own efforts. 

According to police reports, there were no casualties reported, but the building had been severely damaged by the fire. 
 
An investigation was launched into the incident, while the cause of the fire remains unknown.
