200 kilos of explosives found in car in eastern province

Four people were detained in the eastern province of Bingöl after over 200 kilograms of explosive material were found in a car attempting to enter the city, according to Doğan news agency.

The gendarmerie forces stopped the vehicle at the entrance of the Genç district, and found a 200-kilo bomb, supported by ammonium nitrate placed in six different propane cylinders. Authorities shut down the Bingöl-Genç highway after the confiscation of the vehicle as four people, including the driver of the car, were detained in the aftermath.

A second car was also confiscated on suspicions of connections to the explosives.

The bomb could have caused great damage if it had been detonated, according to Doğan news agency.
The investigation continues on the matter.
