A total of 19 people were injured on Dec. 3 when two metrobuses crashed on the Beylikdüzü-Zincirlikuyu line in Istanbul, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

The metrobuses crashed between the Sefaköy and Çobançeşme stations due to an unknown reason at around 10:15 a.m.

The Istanbul municipality announced on its Twitter account that 19 people were injured in the crash, adding that an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the crash.

Several ambulances and medics were immediately dispatched to the scene and the injured were transferred to nearby hospitals following their initial treatment at the scene.

The Istanbul Governor’s Office meanwhile stated that two of the injured were in critical condition.

The accident prompted metrobus travels to be halted temporarily, but the traffic returned to normal after the two crashed metrobuses were removed from the scene.
