11 gendarmerie soldiers detained at Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen Airport after clashes Eleven gendarmerie soldiers were detained on July 17 at Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen Airport after a brief clash.

Police officers who were heading toward the airport’s gendarmerie guard company command post clashed with the soldiers, who they had been ordered to detain following the failed July 15 military coup attempt in Turkey.
 
The 11 soldiers were detained after brief clashes. No casualties were reported in the operation.
 
Meanwhile, another seven soldiers were also detained in an operation at the 3rd Main Air Base in the Central Anatolian province of Konya.
 
Seven soldiers, including commander Col. Mustafa Ertürk, were detained in the operation.
 
Meanwhile, police also detained one colonel and three soldiers in Istanbul on coup attempt charges.
