100,000 eavesdropping ‘at same time’ possible

ANKARA
Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) deputy Enver Erdem has suggested there is a system enabling eavesdropping on over 100,000 telephones at the same time in Turkey.

Erdem was speaking at a press conference at Parliament yesterday along with MHP deputy Atila Kaya. Both deputies are members of the Parliament’s Illegal Eavesdropping Examination Commission.

He announced his party’s reservations regarding the Commission's report, saying that eavesdropping had almost become a “paranoia” in society since communication through mobiles could be monitored.

“In Turkey, there is a system which enables eavesdropping on 100,000 telephones at the same time,” Erdem said.
