Gendarmerie’s water cannon trucks called for reinforcement in Istanbul

Two water cannon trucks belonging to the Gendarmerie Forces came in reinforcement to the police near the Taksim Square on June 15, after the security forces have evacuated Gezi Park with a muscled assault.

Gendarmerie Forces have intervened around the Harbiye entrance of Gezi Park where some clashes between police and protesters had been ongoing for hours.

Police’s crackdown around has lasted more than eight hours but protests spread all across the city as thousands gathered in several neighborhoods marching on the roads. Violent police intervention took place on many arterial roads usually congested with traffic.
