Young music teacher killed in PKK attack in Turkey’s Batman A young music teacher was killed during an outlawed Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK) attack on June 9 in the southeastern province of Batman, according to a gendarme source.

At least one other civilian was also injured in the attack. Two militants first opened fire on the car of the mayor of Kozluk that was being driven by a relative. Gun shots, however, killed a 22-year-old music teacher Şenay Aybüke Yalçın and injured another civilian.

Security forces later intercepted one of the two militants at a gendarmerie station near the entrance to Bekirhan in Kozluk; but the militant blew up the car when told to stop, wounding two soldiers and a civilian.

One of the soldiers later died at a hospital while the other is still
receiving treatment.

An operation is underway to capture the other militants.
