Website launched for disabled

ISTANBUL - Anadolu Agency
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has opened a new website for the disabled. The website has promotional films of Istanbul museums with the Braille alphabet.

The internet website has many explanations in Braille alphabet and also many videos. The project, which was realized by the “Global Tourism Center Istanbul Support Program,” has allowed 5,000 disabled people to visit the eight different museums of Istanbul.

Disabled people can visit the museums with exclusive gadgets and also museum presentation videos, and English language preferences are also available on the website.

The documents and videos made with sign language are available on “erisilebilirturizm.ibb.gov.tr.”

There are also communication points at Atatürk Airport and Beyazıt. The staff working at these points will help impaired and disabled people to visit the museums and transfer them to museums.

The brochures that present the project are also published in the Braille alphabet.

The project includes a total of eight museums: The Istanbul Archaeology Museum, the Topkapı Palace, the Rahmi M. Koç Museum, the Kariye Museum, the Grand Palace Museum, the Hagia Irene, Miniaturk and the Panorama Museum.
