VIDEO: Turkish, Greek foreign ministers sing for peace with NATO head
NATO foreign ministers sang a rendition of “We Are The World” at the dinner of their meeting late on May 13 in Turkey’s southern province of Antalya.
After the meal, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu took to the stage to thank the Enbe Orchestra that had played for the guests. The orchestra offered the ministers to sing a last song “for peace.”
Çavuşoğlu invited other ministers to the stage, with Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias joining his Turkish counterpart first of all. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and EU High Representative Federica Mogherini then joined to sing along.
“We Are the World” is a song and charity single originally recorded by the supergroup “USA for Africa” in 1985. It was written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie, and produced by Quincy Jones and Michael Omartian for the album “We Are the World.”
