VIDEO: Turkish, German football fans square off in Taksim

A fight broke out between fans of Galatasaray and Germany’s Borussia Dortmund in Istanbul’s Taksim Square late on Oct. 21, one day before the clubs’ Champions League Group D match.

A heated quarrel erupted when the rivals encountered each other on a side street near İstiklal Avenue, before the police were able to arrive, as shown by a video recording.

Borussia Dortmund fans were pushed toward Taksim Square by the police before they were dispersed.

The game will start at 9:45 p.m. at the Lions’ home ground, the Türk Telekom Arena.
