Five Turkish gendermarie personnel killed, 12 wounded in avalanche in Bitlis in eastern Turkey

Five gendarmerie personnel have been killed and 12 wounded in an avalanche in the eastern Turkish province of Bitlis during a military operation, the Bitlis Governor's Office said in a written statement on Jan. 21.

The wounded soldiers are not in critical condition, the statement said.
