Two outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants were “neutralized” in a police operation in the eastern Turkish province of Van early on Jan. 18, according to police sources.

Anti-terrorism and special forces units of Van Provincial Police Department raided an address in the Edremit district where two PKK members were reportedly preparing a terrorist attack, said the police source speaking on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media.

Two PKK militants opened fire on the security forces when the police called on them to surrender, the source added.
