Turkish players Marsel İlhan and Çağla Büyükakçay beat their Thai opponents yesterday to close in on qualifying for the Australian Open.

İlhan rallied to beat Danai Udomchoke in three sets yesterday in the second qualifying round of the men’s singles.

Büyükakçay also needed three sets to beat Tamarine Tanasugarn in the first qualifying round of the women’s singles competition.

I, like any other full blooded Turk, would love to see a Turkish Tennis player on the ATP Circuit. Moreover, seeing a Turk win a major, would be fantastic. According to your article, Ilhan, is being presented, as if he was a Turkish National. But, I don't see on his profile, any direct association with Turkey. I see his birth place only, Uzbekistan, as it relates to Nationality. Where do we come off, trying to take credit for producing this player? Unbelievable.
