Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli describes PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as “Siamese twins,” accusing the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) of leading a “chorus of separatists.”

Bahçeli claimed that the ruling party was preparing to draft a Constitution with the cooperation of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Parry (PKK), while also declaring that the MHP would never be a part of plans that would end in the division of Turkey. Addressing his party’s parliamentary group yesterday, Bahçeli read out sections of an alleged transcript of a meeting between jailed PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan and deputies of the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP). The transcript of the meeting that took place on Feb. 23 on the İmrali island prison was published in daily Milliyet on Feb. 28. Bahçeli particularly stressed the parts of the transcript concerning the “definition of citizenship, a coup plan against the National Intelligence Organization (MİT), and the presidential system.”

“The İmralı murderer has intervened from İmralı in the Constitution preparations and handed over his proposals to his couriers, in order to be conveyed to Parliament’s Constitution Conciliation Commission,” Bahçeli said. Three BDP deputies who visited Öcalan are members of the Constitution Conciliation Commission.
