Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan came together with Hamas leader Khaled Meshal and Prime Minister of the Gaza administration Ismail Haniyeh in Ankara on June 18, in a meeting that lasted over two-and-a-half hours. Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu also attended the meeting.

Israel’s Jerusalem policies were expected to top the agenda of the meeting, according to Hamas’ International Relations official Usame Hamdan. Hamdan also said the construction of Israeli settlements and Israel’s "imposition policies" aimed at the Palestinian economy would also be discussed during the meeting. Another topic to be discussed was the gap still existing between the two main Palestinian representatives, Hamas and Fatah, he added.

“Turkey’s role in the Middle East and the world is crucial,” Hamdan told Anatolia news agency.

Erdoğan's upcoming visit to Gaza was also expected to be discussed with the visiting Palestinian officials. The Turkish prime minister had repeatedly expressed his intention to go to Gaza in May, but had to postpone it for his critical visit to Washington DC on May 16.

There is still no fixed date for his planned visit to Gaza, with Turkish officials expressing their intention to realize the visit after reconciliation is achieved between Hamas and Fatah.

Although talks between the two groups have recently intensified, no breakthrough for a unity government is looming.

Erdogan knows that Hamas motto is: Jihad is sweet ...Jihad is fun. And what is funnier that nobody in Turkey criticizes Erdogan for associating with terrorists. And Turkey wants to be a EU member??????

Many tried to broker peace in Holy Land and their efforts failed, went down in Flames, then there are those who cry vor Peace but pray for War, afraid to loose their chance for Glory, Medals and more Land. What harm can come from one more try by PM Erdogan?

Oh no, all that hysterical zionist gibberish again, but this time with a rather disturbing personal knowledge on Beelzebub, of which their now appears to be quite a few. No mention of netanyahu and his cronies. Out of interest how many innocent men, women and children have they blown to pieces. Just a few on the beach. No thousands and thousands. Does that entitle them to Beelzebub status too? This zionist clique certainly have deluded selective memory, matched only by their daily hysteria.

Haniyeh's mandate ended several yeas ago when elections were due and Hamas is a designated terrorist organization. Turkey's PM is losing all respect for Turkey's role in the region.

Erdogan bucking the trend. Recently Hamas has been cut off from Iran , Syria, and Hezbollah. I presume Erdogan had arranged this meeting with Hamas a while ago. Next is his trip to Gaza.

@ Andreas Anastasiou - Very good question. The answer is, the Turkish media pick and choose who is and who isn't a terrorist according to their own selfish needs. Only a few days ago, Erdogan repeatidly said - minorities cannot govern majorities. Hmm....does Cyprus come to mind???! For almost 40 years Turkey has battled for the Turkish minority in Cyprus to govern!!! Double standards!

I suppose they are giving Erdogan a lesson on how to control people by throwing them out of fifth story buildings. Pepper spray and "medically treated water" canons did not work so well.

How despicable this is. theres a saying " you can tell a man by who his friends are" Turkey became close to qadaffi before his downfall & supported him while bodies pilled up. Erdogan supported Assad calling him a dear friend & brother. Have Turks learned nothing? Both people were the devil yet Erdogan had no problem committing Turkey to them. Hamas too is the devil & commits devilish acts. Does Erdogan want Turkish mothers to encourage their kids to blow up? Kill innocent people? Thats Hamas!!!

Seems to be very happy to meet his Hamas brothers. They're probably the only ones who understand our PM's tough stance towards the Turkish protestors
