Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan harshly condemned Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu yesterday for his remarks criticizing Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu’s sentimental outburst during a visit to Gaza.

Davutoğlu visited Gaza on Nov. 20 with a delegation of Arab foreign ministers led by Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Elaraby. He visited wounded people in the Shifa Hospital in Gaza and met the relatives of Palestinians who had lost their lives during the deadly Israeli raid. At the hospital, a tearful Davutoğlu was photographed trying to console the father of a 15-year-old girl who was killed in an Israeli strike. Wires distributed these images across the world.

“Be sure about it, that photograph is a pose. If you have to cry, there are thousands of mothers of martyrs in this country, you should at least hug one of them and cry,” Kılıçdaroğlu said on Nov. 27.

During a meeting of his Justice and Development Party (AKP), Erdoğan called Kılıçdaroğlu’s remarks “inconsiderate.”

“When it comes to injustice, insensitivity and apathy, the CHP leader is competing with Israel,” Erdoğan said. “I’m sure that the Israeli leaders – like the bloody administrators of Syria – are highly content to have such a supporter in Turkey,” he added, claiming that Kılıçdaroğlu was discriminating between Arab and Turkish martyrs and that this was “racism.”

@Ummah. If you want to build anything Muslim based on democracy, you need to do one of two things. First, you could redefine democracy so that it doesn't bear any resemblance to the definition that is widely accepted in developed societies. Or, you could reform Islam so that it doesn't resemble anything like the Quran prescribes. The former is the one preferred by Erdogan, of course.

@Umama muslim Your comment regarding the superislamic nation makes my blood boil allso this so called unity that you talk about, why do muslims feel they have to be united? you dont hear Christens talking about unity, unity for what? War? why do muslims allways want wars?when all the wars are to do with muslims not Christens..Look at the last three decades wars with Iraq and Iran,Afganistan,Kuwait, invasion of Iraq, invasion of Afganistan,Libya,Syria. And you want more wars.what for.

The Taliban has nothing to do with the muslims in Turkey and the Arab world. We want more freedom so we can start building a islamic supernation with a democracy system. First the dictators needs to give the power of the country's to the people. Then our way is free to build a islamic supernation. The mid-east and north afrika , more then 500 milyon muslims are living there. We have oil which we can stop transfer against country's that is hurting a muslim country. Together , we are strong.

@ Mara The American drones used by a person a thousand miles away kills more innocent lives than the Taliban, your country has killed over a million Muslims in the last decade, thousands are still dieing and suffering from depketed uranium based illness,s.The Taliban has a long way to go to even catch up with America when it comes to killing of innocents, they dont have depleted uranium or drones.

The Palestinians are our brothers. Ofcourse we wil cry for them. Because we love the Arab people. They are al our brothers because they are muslims. We are a part of the ummah of the prophet Mohammed. Things are changing. There wil be a islamic supernation in the future.

Kilicdaroglu should stay away from is sparring with the PM. Instead get to work at pointing to all the issues that are unresolved since AKP came to power and come up with a plan to win the nation over. We need some faith in CHP and a rosier, free and truly democratic future. The social divisions need to be mended. Otherwise we can expect to follow Morsi Egypt with sharia, a crushed identity, riots, water cannons, gas and Silivri bursting at the seams. Mr K we don't have much time left !

Why doesn't our FM and PM cry for the 29 children and teacher killed in the Damascus school yesterday by the 'Syrian rebels' that we are so righteously supporting? Shamefully the foreign press and much of the Turkish press covered up that up.... Absolutely disgusting.
