Turkish painter opens exhibition in Toronto

Turkish painter Hikmet Cetinkaya opened an exhibition in Toronto, Canada this week.

Cetinkaya, who is famous for his poppy paintings, opened his exhibition at the Toronto’s City Hall.

Turkey’s Consul General in Toronto Mustafa Levent Bilgen and many other guests attended the opening of the exhibition titled “Poppies from Turkey.”

Cetinkaya told Anatolia news agency that he displayed 40 of his paintings, which were all on poppies again, in the exhibition, adding that this was his second exhibition in Canada.

The exhibition will remain open until Nov. 11.

Cetinkaya graduated from Ankara Gazi University’s Department of Painting in 1982. After carrying out research on painting methods, he established his own workshop. Afterward, he founded an art house called Arc-en-Ciel in Paris. He has established 51 solo exhibitions - nine of them abroad. He has participated in more than 400 group exhibitions
