Turkish jets destroy PKK arms depots in northern Iraq

Turkish jets destroy PKK arms depots in northern Iraq An air operation was conducted against the Zap and Avasin regions in northern Iraq targeting arms and ammunition depots and weapon emplacements of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) on Sept. 26, the Turkish military has stated.

In a written statement, the Armed Forces said the airstrikes targeted PKK camps located in the Zap and Avasin-Basyan regions, where “terrorists were preparing for an attack.”

Previously on Sept. 24, Turkish jets destroyed weapon depots and hideouts used by PKK in northern Iraq, the military had announced.

According to the statement issued by the General Staff, the warplanes carried out an airstrike in the Gara region on Sept. 23, destroying arms and ammunition depots used by militants.

The statement said the air raids were part of ongoing operations targeting the PKK in northern Iraq.
