Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu is expected to pay a snap visit to Gaza on Nov. 20, diplomatic sources have said, noting that the visit will take place as part of the Arab League’s initiative to show support with the territory’s people following ongoing Israeli air strikes.

The Arab League decided Sunday during a meeting in Cairo to send a delegation that includes Davutoğlu to Gaza to express support and solidarity. The Arab League’s decision came hours after Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan openly criticized the league for not taking effective steps in the face of the Israeli aggression against Palestinians.

In the meantime, Davutoğlu accelerated an ongoing diplomatic campaign to halt the Israeli operation through hectic face-to-face and phone conversations with relevant parties. Erdoğan and Davutoğlu met Hamas political leader Khalid Mashaal in Cairo, and the foreign minister later talked to U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.According to sources, Davutoğlu said a truce could be reached if the United States guaranteed that Israel would abide by a cease-fire.

This visit to Gaza will also mark a first for Davutoğlu, since he became the top diplomat in 2009.

I don't know whether comments here are based on ignorance or propaganda. Israel started the operation due to increase of rockets and missiles fired for the last couple of months. From once a week, to once a day, to several times a day. Civilians can't live their lives when several times a day, with the sound of siren, children and women are supposed to run with the next 15 seconds to a shelter. The aim is not to kill Palestinians (even though Hamas warriors shoot from within) but to stop rockets

Turkey should have left nato rather than have the Nato radar shield on its soil to protect Zionists israel, makeing Turkey a front line country.I want the Turkish people to rise up and protest why the Turkish goverment is endangering Turkish citizens lives to save israel.?.Turkey should forget joining a EU that isnt working, with record numbers of unemployment spreading in the EU,bringing depression for years to come,The young have been cheated and lied to by goverments hell bent on austerity.

How much better off we were before Mr Davatoglu and Erdogan got involved in our foreign policy. Now we team up with terrorists and Islamists, and at the same time are burning our bridges with Europe and US. This development is not good at all for us but unfortunately I think it is to late to repair the damage created. Mr Gul and Babacan did are far better job. Then we had influential friends. Now we have terrorists as friends and the others are our enemies or at least do not care or help us.

@Uri D Try reading your own News printed in the Haarezt or watching real news like AL Jazeera where two IDF brave soldiers killed a mental retarded man with the mind of a child first shot for sport in the legs then finished off with a bullet to the head, only a week ago,or what about the deliberate bombing of the media building in Gaza two nights running.Explain why israel is targeting the media in gaza.Or what about the shooting of a father sheilding his five year old son both shot and killed .
