The 21-year-old son of ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) deputy Seyit Eyyüpoğlu, Cenap Eyyüpoğlu, has reportedly committed exam fraud by having another person take the University Entrance Exam (LYS) on his behalf.

A.Y. applied to enter the exam with his own photo but Eyyüpoğlu's identity information to obtain an entrance document identifying him as Eyyüpoğlu.

An exam observer revealed the fraud during the exam June 16 at Hacettepe University in Ankara, saying that when asked for identification, A.Y. hastily presented Eyyüpoğlu's identification card.

The observer then realized that the photo on the entrance document and on the identity card did not match.

A.Y. and Eyyüpoğlu were detained, taken to custody and admitted the crime after exam observers, who later testified before the prosecutor, notified the authorities.

According to a claim, AKP deputy Seyit Eyyüpoğlu called the police when his son was in custody to warn them and “commend” his son to them.

They were released by the court pending trial and the case was reported to the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM).
