Turkish Chief of Staff visits Azerbaijan

Turkish Chief of Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar paid a visit to Azerbaijan from Oct. 5 to Oct. 6, during which he met with Azeri President Ilham Aliyev, Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov, Prime Minister Artur Rasizade and Spokesperson of the Azeri National Assembly Oktay Esedov. 

During the meeting on Oct. 5, Aliyev said Turkey and Azerbaijan were the world’s two closest countries conducting joint military exercises in both the countries that had a significant importance. 

Akar said that the works conducted between the two countries were expanding every day, adding that important cooperation was being conducted in education and military drills areas. 

Akar later met with Hasanov on Oct. 6, at a meeting that was held behind closed doors. After the meeting, Hasanov presented an Azeri order of merit on military cooperation to Akar. 

Akar also visited the grave of Haydar Aliyev, the third president of Azerbaijan and İlham Aliyev’s father, where he laid a wreath. 

Akar paid a visit to Rasizade and Esedov, separately, where they expressed their satisfaction on the cooperation between the two countries.
