Turkish Airlines has inaugurated flights to San Francisco, the national flag carrier said in a statement.

It is the airline’s second Californian destination, and its 11th in the Americas. The airline already has services to Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Toronto, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Washington, Boston and Montreal.

The San Francisco flight will operate five times a week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays in both directions.

To commemorate this important event, the aircraft on the pioneer flight will be adorned with a special livery.

“To signify the new link between these two major world cities, Turkish Airlines combined a modernist perspective with minimalist design and created a unique livery for the Boeing 777-300, ‘Safranbolu,’ which will inaugurate the service between Istanbul and San Francisco,” the statement said.
