Turkish Airlines looking to Messi as new sponsor target

Turkish Airlines is in engaged in talks to add the Argentinean superstar footballer Lionel Messi to its list of high-profile sponsorship deals.

Talks are in progress, Doğan News Agency quoted Ali Genç, the media counsellor for Turkey’s flagship carrier, as saying. “Our sponsorship team in Spain is currently working on it,” Genç said.
Barcelona’s Messi, three-time World Player of the Year Award winner, is largely regarded as the world’s best football player.

If the deal is through, Messi will be the latest high-profile athlete to work with Turkish Airlines, following U.S. basketball star Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers and tennis player Caroline Wozniacki. Turkish Airlines has sponsorship deals with Barcelona and Manchester United.
