Turkey’s top business representative Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu has taken over a new post as the vice head of the chamber body representing 26 Asia-Pacific countries.

Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Chairman Hisarcıklıoğlu has been named the new chairman of the Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) during the general assembly meeting held in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur, the TOBB said in a written statement released Sept. 30.

“Our duty is waving our country’s flag in every corner of the world. The Asia-Pacific region’s increasing significance in the global economy has caused the advanced economies’ attention to turn to this region.

And representing the business world, we are working with all of our power to wave our flag stronger in this region,” the chairman was quoted as saying in the statement. “This selection’s taking place in our brother country Malaysia made us even happier,” he added.

The CACCI is a regional grouping of national chambers of commerce and industry, business associations and business enterprises in Asia and the Western Pacific.

Hisarcıklıoğlu has a number of international duties. He serves as vice chairman of the Eurochambers, deputy chairman of Islam, Commerce, Industry and Agriculture Chambers Federation and board member of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
