Turkey’s first ‘pet beach’ to open in resort town of Bodrum

Turkey’s first pet-friendly beach will be opened in the Aegean resort town of Bodrum in the Muğla province as an initiative by the local municipality.

Pets will be able to run, swim and frolic in the sand with their owners thanks to the “Nature Beach” project, Demirören News Agency reported on Aug. 23.

The project was launched with the instructions of the Bodrum Mayor Mehmet Kocadon, from the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP), and is expected to be completed in three months.

Kocadon said the designated beach will be free of charge and will be located in the Çukurbük area of the Gümüşlük village. The premises, which will cover an area of 3,000 square meters, will also include a cafeteria, restaurant, car parking area, playground, toilets, showers, changing rooms, sunbeds and sun umbrellas.

“In this project, which will be a first for Turkey, we will provide animal lovers who come to our town with their pets or who live here with an opportunity to experience a holiday that is joyful and entertaining together with their animals and children,” Kocadon said.
