Turkeys Economic Confidence Index in April at highest level since December 2015 Confidence in Turkey’s economy has risen in April, hitting its highest level since December 2015, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK).

The Economic Confidence Index rose from March by 3.6 percentage points to 99.5 points in April, TÜİK said in a statement on April 27.

“This increase in economic confidence index stemmed from the increases in consumer, retail trade and services confidence indices,” it added.

The sub-index tracking consumer confidence soared by 5.1 percent month-on-month to 71.3 points in April.
The retail trade confidence index was the second best performing sector in the month, surging to 101.6 points, up by 4.1 percentage points compared to last month.

The sub-index for services climbed 3 percent month-on-month to 99.9 points in the current month.

However, the real sector confidence and construction confidence indices both slipped by 0.2 percent to 106.3 percent and 85.7 percent, respectively, in the same period.
