A court ruling allowing Turkey to ban access to the anti-Islam film “Innocence of Muslims” that sparked outrage worldwide has been finalized, Transportation, Maritime and Communication Minister Binali Yıldırım said today.

The ruling will now allow Turkish authorities to ban any webpage that shows any portion of the movie, including the video-sharing giant YouTube, according to Anatolia news agency.

YouTube has refused to remove the trailer of the controversial movie, prompting countries like Pakistan and Sudan to ban the video-sharing site altogether.

Yıldırım instructed his ministry yesterday to launch legal procedures to remove the anti-Islam movie from the Internet, according to a statement released by his website.

I saw several clips of it and it really is one of the most poorly made and stupid films I have seen. As far as I am concerned, the film-makers have made and absolute fool of themselves and the ridiculousness of it can be seen by anyone whatever their religion.

Some of the comments here, and of course the "pious" religous leaders of this country show what is the problem. It's a stupid film, and if Islam can't survive a film frankly no one has watched, then the religion is in real trouble. There is a big difference between that and anti-semitism, and wishing death to a group of people because of their race or religion. Wake up and get real, let Islam prosper, not suffer under the dark ages which it is now.

And it's true. Banning the film will only increase Islamophobia, and portray the religion as an instrument of oppression. Ignoring this stupid movie is the best option. From what I hear it is an amateurishly made piece of hateful rubbish. Why give it any publicity?

There is a no point in banning a website that shows this tasteless disgusting film. If I might be offended by it I have the choice not to watch it. The best response to this film is that there will be no hits from Turkey!. Why would one want to watch something that will insult one? Human nature is a strange thing sometimes. This ban will only further publicise this movie and even more people will watch out of curiosity. I am not a muslim but I still would not watch such hateful rubbish.

Turkey made correct step. However, United States forbidden to say wrong things about Jewish Holucost in Germany but insulting more than one billion people who carry religion of Islam name in their passports and saying this action freedom of speech so why it is not allowed to insult some U.S citizens in the streets?

JRC JRC, FYI, youtube also has what is claimed to be the full movie, 74 minutes of garbage. Frankly, I don't know what all the fuss is about.

Turkey's ban of the film will make more people to make more of this garbage and Turkey will be forced to close the youtube. Have a nice day.

I saw an image the other day, relating to all this nonsense, it said: The YouTube clip of “Innocence of Muslims” is just the trailer, the world-wide Muslim response is the full movie.
