A mortar shell supposedly fired from Syria landed in the town of Yayladağı in the southern Turkish province of Hatay late on Thursday.

The shell landed in a forested area 1 kilometer away from the Kayapınar military border outpost and no casualties were reported. Turkey responded to the shell immediately.

Clashes in Syria are heard easily in Yayladağı.

SNPAGE The USA has used your strategy on more than one occasion and how did that work for us? It only built animosity toward Americans and even you have had something to say about our Imperialist ways etc. So how does Turkey know better? The World should stay out of this and let Syrians figure it out. We deposed Sadaam and Iraq is not better off and by some opinions even worse than when Sadaam was in power. Good deeds rarely go unpunished. Brothers will fare no better.

This is why I love Israel because israeli's response brings result unlike Turkey that makes a noise.

I am curious what does respond mean, a diplomatic comment, fist shaking, counter battery fire, or an airstrike? In essence Syria & Iran are controlling Turkey's Border by proxy.

To Safiyah Noor: As much as Assad is a dictator the terrorists I refer to are the criminals that have been destroying Syria's infrastructure, killing thousands of civilians, kidnapping women and children for ransom, creating Islamic emirates in cities and chopping people's heads for not siding with them. No one's "elite" forces are welcome to Syria to fight on anyone's side. And Turkish intelligence and dirty fingers are also not welcome to meddle in Syria's affairs

Who did the response aimed at ? It seems the 'friendly' rebels are not that friendly anymore. They just exploded a car on Turkish soil, what's next?

To Sam Steel-I wish that a country that is ruled by Brothers would send an elite strike force in to Syria to kill al-Assad. His regime would crumple and hopefully all civilian in every neighboring State would be safe once again by simply removing this one authoritarian terrorist. I hope Mr. al Assad was the terrorist to which you were referring.

Alkan, the response was to send even more mortar shells, weapons and bullets to the terrorists in Syria to kill more syrian civilians.
