Turkey ready to sign Azeri gas deal

KAYSERİ - Anatolia News Agency
Energy Minister Taner Yıldız, speaking yesterday at a Justice and Development Party (AKP) congress in Kayseri, a province in Central Anatolia, said Turkey was gearing up to sign an agreement that would enable Azerbaijan to transport its natural gas to Europe via Turkey.

The gas would be shipped through the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline. The agreement is expected to be signed today.

Yıldız also said Turkey was “a shining star in the region” and a model for neighboring countries. Turkey was demonstrating its strength in the energy sector and signing quite a few deals in the energy arena, he said.
