Turkey calls for restraint in Crimea

ANKARA
The Turkish Foreign Ministry has called for “restraint” in the autonomous region of Crimea following turmoil in Ukraine.

Finding a solution within national solidarity, territorial integrity and the constitutional system of Ukraine is crucial, in the current state of things, the foreign ministry said in a written statement Feb. 26.

“In this context, we expect all parties in the Crimea Autonomous Republic, where cognate Crimea Tatars are living as well, to act with restraint and common sense,” read the statement.

Turkey would continue to support all sorts of democratic solution within the framework of the rightful demands of the Ukrainian people, said the ministry.
