Turkey has invited the foreign ministers of Brazil and Sweden to the annual gathering of Turkish ambassadors Jan. 2 to 9 in İzmir to discuss a joint initiative to prevent assaults against sacred values.

Turkey stepped up for the initiative at the U.N. General Assembly in September following the outrage over an anti-Islam film called the “Innocence of Muslims,” which led to killing of the U.S. ambassador to Libya, Christopher Stevens, and three other Americans in an attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi. Unidentified armed men had stormed the grounds during uproar among Muslims over the U.S.-produced film said to insult the Prophet Muhammad.

The initiative, “three soft powers from three continents,” also aims to secure diplomats in foreign missions by taking more precautions against the terrorist threats faced by them. Foreign ministers Antonio de Aguiar Patriota of Brazil and Carl Bildt of Sweden have been invited to the January meeting to continue work on the project.

Diplomats of the three countries in New York have started working on the documents for the initiative, which they expect to present to the U.N. in 2013.

ILLAWARRIOR HILL There are many Christain faiths and many of those faiths do not believe that they others are true Christianity, BUT in the USA my beliefs are protected from others, so I don't feel like I have to list Baptist, Methodists, Jehovah's Witness, Mormon, Pentecostal, Nazarene, Catholic, Episcipal, Lutheran, and on and on and on. BTW Why aren't any of you guys commenting on the demented rantings of the man who is calling for the kidnapping and killing of Westerners. No nerve?

How interesting that Alex Kader lists Islam, Shia , Alawi as being different faiths, when it is generally accepted that Sunni, Shia, Alawi and many other islamic sects are all part of Islam

Everyone insults everyone ... get over it! Surely, the fact that Islam insists that its god is the only god ... is an insult to all other religions and vice versa?? The world is big enough to accommodate many different beliefs, and to disregard insults from those who do not share our beliefs

It goes against my grain, but there should be a limit to such "expression", if one can call it that, especially in public media and channels. You know what, internet is public domain, not your own backyard. We all know the difference between an opinion and hateful and hurtful insults.

"faith insults" should be controlled; I totally agree with that; however, it should include all the faiths such as Atheism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Alawi, Shia, Baha'i, Hinduism, Taoism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Rodnoveri, Celtic pagan, Heathenism, Semitic pagan, Wicca, Semitism, Hellenic pagan, Roman pagan, etc. If Turkish PM is able to create respect and understanding for all the faiths only in Turkey, He deserves Nobel Peace Price. Otherwise, it is just empty talk.

The U.S Government knew Christopher Stevens was going to get murdered. It was them who released that video to incite a riot so they could blame it on Muslims! But little do people know that the 'Ringleader' behind the attack that killed U.S. ambassador was a former Al Queada Guantanamo bay inmate, who was 'conveniently' handed over to Libya by America. They armed him and trained him. Nothing mainstream news tell you is true. Wake up people. They planned this, just like everything else

Insult against faith is more like coming from Islamic conservatives like erdogan who bashes on and off about Kemal Kilicdaroglu faith.
