Turkey and Qatar sign army cooperation deal

The Turkish army has announced that Turkey and Qatar have signed a military cooperation agreement, a development that is set to foster developing relations between the two countries.

The Military Training and Cooperation Agreement was signed by Chief of General Staff Necdet Özel and his Qatari counterpart Major General Hamad Bin Ali al-Attiyah, the Turkish military said in a written statement yesterday. It did not include details about the content of the agreement.

Turkey and Qatar have developed bilateral relations in almost every field over the last couple of years. Both countries also have very good relations with the United States and have adopted similar lines on ongoing Syrian turmoil.

Syria accuses Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia of providing logistical and political support to the Syrian National Council.
