Türk Telekom has said its Avea unit and Vodafone Telekomunikasyon A.Ş. have together won a Turkish tender to provide and operate mobile communications infrastructure in areas where there is currently none.

In a written statement to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) early on June 2, the company said that its wholly owned subsidiary Avea submitted a joint offer together with Vodafone Turkey for a tender issued by the Communication General Directorate of the Transport, Maritime and Communication Ministry in relation to the establishment and operation of mobile communication infrastructure in 1,472 locations with no mobile communication infrastructure in the three-year project duration time.

“On June 1, we were notified that the tender was awarded to Avea - Vodafone business partnership that submitted the lowest bid [1,587 million Turkish Liras - excluding VAT],” read the statement.

The agreement regarding the tender is planned to be signed after the completion of legal procedures, it added.
