Transport ship stranded next to waterfront mansions in Istanbul’s Bosphorus

ISTANBUL

A transport ship has been stranded off Istanbul’s Yeniköy district on the Bosphorus Strait early on Dec. 21, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

The Panama-flagged ship Star Harmony was stranded after its north-south passage on the strait, while its helm was locked, according to the Directorate General of Coastal Safety officials.

The incident occurred next to waterfront mansions located on the strait. 

The Istanbul Vessel Traffic Service dispatched three towboats and six quick-evacuation boats. 

There were no immediate damages or casualties reported.   

Meanwhile, rescue teams found a seagull injured in the accident and took it to veterinarians for medical treatment.
