Turkish security forces staged simultaneous anti-terror operations in Istanbul early on Feb. 5, police sources have said.

The anti-terror branch of the Istanbul Police Department carried out dawn raids at 10 different addresses in the Esenyurt district on Istanbul’s European side.

Police have yet to release the exact number of suspects detained.

The suspects were taken to the Istanbul police HQ after undergoing health checks.

The operation came after a Feb. 4 attack targeting a police team patrolling in Esenyurt. The attack left one officer injured, and assailants escaped after opening fire on the police officers.

Many arrests have been carried out across Turkey since the July 20 Suruç suicide bombing that killed dozens of people. Most of the suspects detained are allegedly linked to terrorist groups such as the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) or the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
