State Theaters set to stage Chekhov works

Anton Chekhov’s six major plays, including ‘The Machine,’ will be on stage.
Within the scope of Chekhov Week, classic 19th-century Russian playwright Anton Chekhov’s plays will be performed in a number of Ankara theaters between Feb. 18 and 23.The State Theaters announced that it would be performing Chekhov’s six major plays “Three Sisters,” “The Seagull,” “Dear Doctor,” “The Cherry Orchard,” “Uncle Vanya” and “The Bear,” and a biographical play about Chekhov’s life, “The Machine.”
The plays, which will be produced by the Istanbul, Bursa, Adana, İzmir, Ankara and Van state theaters, will be on stage at the Cüneyt Gökçer, Şinasi, İrfan Şahinbaş studios, and the Oda and Küçük theaters.
Chekhov, who lived between 1860 and 1904, was a Russian physician, dramaturge and author who is considered to be among the greatest writers of short stories in history. His career as a dramatist produced four classics and his best short stories are held in high esteem.
